Freemason’s Ritual

Importance of the Rituals in the Initiatory Approach

The International Order of Freemasonry for Men and Women “Le Droit Humain” is specifically aimed at integrating the complete initiatory path from the 1st to the 33rd degree. Freemasonry accepts men and women who are animated by the desire for improvement. The Labours are carried out according to a ritualistic and symbolic method that takes its roots in the tradition of Freemasonry.

The ritual isolates Freemasons from external agitation. Members can express their opinions, with measure and openness, in total freedom and confidence, according to a ritual intended for this purpose. All opinions are examined in a spirit of tolerance and fraternity. Only newcomers are subject to silence, to a period of reflection and observation. The proposed symbols are thought-provoking. Attendance in Lodge is crucial.

The initiatory process is not an intellectual approach. It involves:

  • Intuition
  • Imagination
  • Creation

It is through a common language – that of symbols – based on a common culture – that of tradition – and with the help of the ritual, that Freemasons reach a quality of listening and dialogue that promotes the exchange of ideas and prepares for the future.
